Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to WingMate (“WingMate”, “we,” “our,” “us”), a dating application and service provided by JSL Studio LLC, a Florida limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we use and share it, and the steps we take to safeguard it, when you use the WingMate mobile application, website, and related services. WingMate is intended for users in the United States, and is operated in accordance with U.S. laws and regulations. By using WingMate, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the service.

Information We Collect

We collect various types of information from and about you when you use WingMate:

  • Account Information: When you create a WingMate account, we ask for personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, and dating preferences (for example, the gender or age range of partners you’re seeking) . This information helps us verify your eligibility and personalize your experience.
  • Profile Data: You may provide additional details to build your profile, including photographs, a biography or “about me” section, interests, and answers to any profile prompts or questions . This information is part of your public profile on WingMate and will be visible to other users of the service by default. Please do not include information on your profile that you are not comfortable sharing publicly.
  • Compatibility and Interaction Data: WingMate uses AI-driven interactions to evaluate compatibility between users. For example, WingMate may facilitate AI-to-AI chats or generate compatibility insights based on your preferences and behavior. When you engage with these features, we collect the content and results of those interactions (e.g. the AI-generated compatibility score or conversation data) . This “compatibility data” helps us refine match suggestions and improve our algorithms.
  • Device and Usage Information: We automatically collect certain information about your device and how you use WingMate. This includes technical details like your device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, browser type (if accessing our website), and app version. We also log usage information such as the dates and times you log in, features or pages you interact with, search queries, and referring websites  . If you enable location services, we may collect your precise geolocation (e.g. your GPS coordinates) to provide location-based features, such as showing you potential matches nearby . You can disable precise location access at any time in your device settings, though certain features (like distance-based matching) will be limited. We also use cookies and similar technologies as described under Tracking & Cookies below to collect web usage data.
  • Data from Third-Party Services: If you choose to log in or sign up via a third-party platform (such as using “Sign in with Apple” or “Google” authentication), we receive information from those providers such as your name and email address as permitted by your Apple or Google account settings . Similarly, if you make a purchase through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or via Stripe (our payment processor), we may receive information from those platforms to confirm your subscription or purchase (e.g. type of subscription and transaction ID), though we do not receive your full credit card number or bank information from these processors. We may also receive basic analytics data from third-party analytics tools (for example, Firebase Analytics or similar services) that helps us understand app performance and user behavior.
  • Communications and Support: If you contact us for support or to provide feedback, we will collect the information you choose to share during those communications (such as your contact information and the content of your email or support request). If we conduct surveys or promotions, and you participate, we will collect any information you provide in those contexts as well.
  • No Biometric or Health Data: We do not collect biometric identifiers (such as fingerprints, facial recognition templates, or voice prints) or any health or medical data about you. WingMate does not require or request health information, and we do not process sensitive health or genetic data as part of our services. Additionally, we do not intentionally collect financial account numbers or government identification numbers as part of your profile.

Note: Some of the information you provide (such as gender, sexual orientation, or dating preferences) may be considered sensitive personal data. By providing this information, you agree that we may use it for the purposes described in this Policy (for example, using your preferences to suggest compatible matches). We will handle all personal information, including sensitive data, with appropriate care and security.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like many online services, WingMate and our partners use cookies and similar tracking technologies to recognize you and collect information as you interact with our site and app.

  • Cookies: Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device. Our website may use both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your device until deleted) for purposes such as keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, and gathering analytics about your use of our site. For example, we use cookies to understand which pages of our website are most frequently visited and to enable certain features. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. However, if you disable cookies, some parts of our site might not function properly.
  • Mobile App Analytics: In our mobile app, we may use SDKs or tracking tools provided by third parties (such as Google Firebase Analytics) to collect usage information within the app. This helps us analyze user engagement and improve functionality. These tools may use device identifiers and other techniques instead of browser cookies. You can usually reset or limit the use of certain mobile identifiers in your device settings (for example, by resetting your advertising ID or limiting ad tracking on iOS or Android).
  • “Do Not Track” Signals: Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that lets you signal websites that you do not want to be tracked across sites. There is currently no consensus on how to interpret DNT signals, and WingMate’s website does not respond to these signals . We treat the data of all website visitors in accordance with this Privacy Policy, regardless of DNT status.
  • Third-Party Tracking & Ads: WingMate currently does not serve third-party advertisements within our app, and we do not allow third-party advertisers to track your behavior on our app for targeted advertising purposes. In the event we later partner with advertisers or use ad networks, we will update this Policy to reflect those practices and provide you with options to opt out of interest-based advertising. In general, if we send marketing communications, you can opt out as described in the Your Rights & Choices section.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Provide and Improve the Service: We use your personal data to operate WingMate and provide you with its core functionality. This includes using your information to set up and maintain your account, display your profile to other users, and match you with other members in a way that reflects your preferences and compatibility (including via our AI algorithms). We also use data to personalize the service for you – for example, to show you recommended matches or content that aligns with the information in your profile . Usage and interaction data help us understand how users engage with WingMate, so we can improve existing features, fix technical issues, and develop new features and services . Overall, your data allows us to ensure WingMate is functioning properly, securely, and efficiently on your device.
  • Compatibility and Match Suggestions: The information you provide, along with data collected by our AI features, is used to evaluate compatibility between users and suggest potential matches. For example, we may analyze your profile details, preferences, and interaction patterns (such as how you respond to certain prompts or your activity on the app) in order to recommend other users who might be a good match . Our automated systems may provide you with compatibility scores or insights. We use these processes to enhance your dating experience, but no algorithm is perfect – thus we also rely on you to decide which connections to pursue.
  • Communication: We use your contact information to communicate with you about your account and the WingMate service. This includes sending transactional communications (e.g. verification codes, account alerts, match notifications, or technical/security notices) and, where permitted, promotional communications (such as updates about new features, newsletters, or offers). For example, we may send you email notifications when you get a new match or when we update our terms. We may also respond to you if you contact us with a question or support request. You can opt out of marketing emails as described in Your Rights & Choices below, but you will continue to receive essential account and service messages.
  • Payment Processing: If you purchase a premium subscription or other paid features, we will use the necessary personal information (like your user ID and purchase details) to process the transaction and manage billing . Payments are handled through third-party platforms (Apple, Google, Stripe), but we maintain records of your subscription status, expiration, and history of transactions (e.g., which premium tier you subscribed to and when). We may also send you reminders or notices related to billing (for instance, notice of an upcoming subscription renewal or if a payment method on file has expired).
  • Safety and Trust & Safety Monitoring: Keeping our community safe is extremely important to us. We may process personal data (including profile info, interaction history, and device information) to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and other illegal or undesirable activities on WingMate . For example, we use automated tools and moderators to monitor for violations of our Terms of Use (such as harassment or inappropriate content) and to verify user identities when necessary. If we become aware of users engaging in misconduct (either on the app or, in certain cases, off the app), we may take appropriate action as described in the Terms of Use (such as issuing warnings or terminating accounts) to protect our user community. We may also use information to address ongoing or alleged misbehavior, to enforce our rules, and to assist law enforcement as needed .
  • Research and Analytics: We may use information (often in aggregated or anonymized form) to conduct internal research, analytics, and product development. This helps us understand overall user trends and preferences so we can improve the WingMate user experience. For example, analyzing which profile prompts are most answered or which compatibility questions best predict successful matches can guide enhancements to our matching algorithm. We may also develop new features (like a new matching criterion or a personalization option) based on analysis of user data and feedback . When using data for these purposes, we may remove or obscure any personal identifiers so the information can no longer be linked to specific users. Anonymized insights or statistics (such as “X% of WingMate users are interested in outdoor activities”) may be used in marketing or shared externally, but these will not identify individuals.
  • Legal Compliance: We will use and disclose personal information where necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For instance, we may process and retain certain data to fulfill record-keeping requirements, to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, or to comply with applicable laws and regulations. We may also use personal data to protect our rights or the rights of our users, such as investigating potential violations of our Terms or this Policy and taking appropriate action . If we need to use your data for a purpose not described in this Policy, we will seek your consent or provide required notice.

We rely on various legal bases to process your information, including: your consent (where you have provided it), the necessity to perform a contract (our Terms) with you, and our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving our service, protecting safety, and enforcing our rights. We do not use your personal data for any purposes that are incompatible with those described above without your knowledge or permission.

How We Share Your Information

WingMate is in the business of facilitating connections between people, not selling personal data. We treat your personal information with care and share it only in limited circumstances, as outlined below:

  • With Other Users: The primary sharing of your information is with other WingMate users, as this is fundamental to the service . When you create a profile, the content you include (such as your photos, first name, age, bio, interests, and any compatibility indicators) will be visible to users who come across your profile in the app. If you match or interact with another user, that user will see the information you have made available (and vice versa). For example, when two users indicate mutual interest, we may enable additional profile details or prompts to be visible to both. Please remember that any information you share in your WingMate profile or in direct communications with other users can be seen by them – use discretion and common sense about what you disclose. WingMate is not responsible for what other users do with information you share with them. Assume that anything you post on the app may be saved or shared by others, and proceed accordingly . If you choose to limit certain profile information (for instance, hiding your distance or last name), we will honor those settings where such features exist.
  • With Our Service Providers (“Processors”): We employ a variety of trusted third-party companies to perform services on our behalf, and we need to share some personal data with them to accomplish those tasks . These service providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information and to use it only for the purposes of providing their services to WingMate. Key categories of service providers include:
    • Cloud Hosting & Data Storage: WingMate is built on secure cloud infrastructure, such as Google Firebase, which stores and manages user data (including authentication credentials, profiles, and messages) . Firebase and similar platforms provide data storage, database, and server-side services that enable WingMate to function reliably. We share data with these providers so that our application runs smoothly on their servers.
    • Analytics Services: We may use third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase) to collect usage data and metrics about how WingMate is used. These tools process device and usage data (as described in Device and Usage Information above) to provide us with aggregate insights (for example, app crash reports, or statistics on user engagement). This helps us diagnose issues and make data-driven improvements.
    • Payment Processors: When you subscribe to a premium WingMate service or make in-app purchases, payments are handled by external platforms such as Stripe (for direct credit/debit transactions), Apple’s App Store, or Google Play. These processors receive your payment details directly; WingMate itself does not collect or store your full financial account numbers. We share with the payment processors the minimum information necessary (e.g., your user ID or subscription plan) to link your payment to your WingMate account, and they in turn inform us of the outcome of transactions (so we know to grant premium features). Payment processors may also share limited information with us like the type of card used (Visa/MC) or a billing ZIP code for tax calculation, if applicable. All such third-party payment platforms are responsible for the personal and financial information you provide to them, and their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
    • Communication Tools: We may use email delivery services or SMS gateways to send out verification codes, alerts, or newsletters. For example, if we send you an email, it might go through a service like SendGrid or a similar provider that handles bulk email on our behalf. Those providers will have access to your email address for the sole purpose of sending our communications to you.
    • Artificial Intelligence and Moderation: If our AI compatibility features rely on third-party AI platforms or if we use third-party content moderation services (for example, automated image filtering or text moderation tools to detect inappropriate content), we might share relevant data (such as a chat message or an image) with those providers for analysis. Such content is shared only for analysis purposes and not for their own use. We ensure any provider used for AI processing or moderation is under strict confidentiality and data security obligations.
  • These service providers are given access only to the information necessary for them to perform their functions, and they are prohibited from using it for other purposes. For instance, our analytics providers may use device identifiers but cannot contact you or use your data except to provide anonymized analytics to us. We do not permit our processors to sell or rent your data.
  • Within Our Corporate Family: At present, WingMate is operated by JSL Studio LLC as a standalone service. If in the future WingMate becomes part of a family of related companies or affiliates, we may share your information with those affiliated entities to help provide the service or for corporate administration. For example, if JSL Studio LLC establishes a subsidiary or parent company that plays a role in running WingMate, we might share user information with that company. Any such affiliate will abide by terms similar to this Privacy Policy. (If such sharing practices evolve, we will update this Policy accordingly.)
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, process, or request . This includes:
    • Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement. We may share information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal processes, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. If law enforcement or government agencies present lawful requests or requirements (for example, a search warrant or an investigative demand), we will comply to the extent we are required and will only disclose the minimum necessary data.
    • Protection of Rights and Safety. We may share data when we believe it’s necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or violations of our Terms of Use . For instance, if we suspect that a user is engaging in human trafficking or planning violence, we may alert appropriate authorities and share relevant information to prevent harm. We may also disclose information to enforce our Terms or to assert the legal rights of ourselves or others (such as to proceed against hackers or abusive users).
  • Business Transfers: If JSL Studio LLC or WingMate is involved in a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction . For example, if WingMate is acquired by or merged with another dating app company, your data would likely be one of the assets transferred to the new owner. In such cases, we will require that your personal data remains subject to protections at least as protective as those in this Privacy Policy, and we will notify you (for example, via email or a prominent notice in the app) if a transfer occurs along with any choices you may have.
  • With Your Consent: In situations where you explicitly consent or request that we share information, we will do so. For instance, if in the future WingMate offers an option to sync your WingMate account with another service or to share your success story on social media, we would only proceed with sharing your data in those ways with your knowledge and consent. We may ask for your permission to share certain information with third parties – and in such cases we will make clear why we want to share the information and with whom, and we will honor the choices you make .
  • Anonymized or Aggregated Data: We may share information that has been anonymized or aggregated (so it no longer identifies you personally) for various purposes. This non-personal information may be shared with partners or the public for research, marketing, analytics or other purposes. For example, we might publish blog insights about dating trends (e.g., “25% of WingMate users prefer hiking on a first date”) or share statistics with an academic researcher or press outlet. Such information will not include any personal details that can be linked back to you. In some cases, we may also allow third-party partners to use cookies or similar technologies to collect anonymized data about user interactions (for example, measuring ad effectiveness on our site), but we do not permit third parties to collect personal information for their own undisclosed purposes.

No Selling of Personal Data: WingMate does not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes . Your data is used and shared only as described above, primarily to provide and improve our service and to comply with the law. If in the future we consider any expansion of data sharing that could be considered a “sale” of personal data (under applicable laws), we will update this Policy and provide appropriate notice and choices to users.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as outlined in this Policy, and as long as we have a lawful basis or legitimate business need to do so. The exact duration we keep different types of data may vary based on the type of information and the context of its use:

  • Active Account Data: For as long as you maintain an active WingMate account, we will keep the personal information you have provided (such as your profile content, preferences, and match history) and data generated through your use of the service. Keeping this data allows us to provide you with a continuous and personalized dating experience.
  • Account Deletion: If you choose to delete your WingMate account, or if we terminate your account for any reason, we will initiate the process of removing your personal data from our active systems. In general, we aim to purge or anonymize the personal data associated with a deleted account within approximately 90 days of the deletion request . This period allows us to ensure that deletion is carried out properly and to accommodate any backup or archival restoration cycles. For example, when you delete your account, your profile will typically be removed from view within 24 hours, and then over the following days/weeks, the underlying data (profile info, photos, matches, etc.) will be permanently deleted from our databases or stripped of personal identifiers.
  • Retention After Deletion: There are certain instances where we may retain some information after account deletion:
    • Legal and Compliance Reasons: We may retain data if we reasonably need it to comply with applicable laws or regulations. For instance, records of financial transactions (purchases, subscriptions) may be retained for accounting, tax, and audit purposes. Similarly, information pertaining to a user who was banned for serious misconduct might be retained to cooperate with law enforcement or to prevent that user from re-registering (e.g., we may keep a hashed value of a banned user’s email or phone to block future sign-ups) .
    • Dispute Resolution: If you have an outstanding issue, claim, or dispute with us or another user, we may retain relevant information until the issue is resolved. For example, if a user has made a legal threat or if there’s an ongoing investigation regarding a Terms of Use violation, we would preserve related data.
    • Safety and Preventing Fraud: Data that could be necessary to detect or prevent fraud and abuse may be retained. For example, device identifiers or basic account metadata might be kept to identify patterns of malicious activity or to ensure that someone who was removed for misconduct cannot simply create a new account.
    • Backups: Like many services, WingMate periodically creates encrypted backup copies of its database for business continuity. These backups are retained for a limited time and are securely stored. It is possible that some user data could remain in backup storage for a short period after deletion until those backups are cycled out or destroyed. We maintain backup data only for a fixed retention window, after which it is deleted or overwritten. During that window, your data is not used for any active purpose; it’s retained solely for disaster recovery.

In all cases where data is retained after account deletion, we continue to protect it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws. When the retention period expires, or the reason for retention has been resolved, we will either delete the data or anonymize it (remove all personal identifiers) so that it can no longer be associated with you.

Aside from account deletion, if you simply stop using WingMate without deleting your account, we may eventually designate your account as “inactive.” Inactive accounts may be retained for a period of time (to allow you to return without losing your data), but we reserve the right to delete inactive accounts or data associated with them after an extended period of inactivity, in accordance with our data retention policies. We will typically provide notice (for example, via email) before deleting an inactive account.

Your Rights and Choices

We believe it is important that you remain in control of your personal information. Accordingly, WingMate provides you with the following rights and choices regarding your data:

  • Access and Portability: You have the right to request information about the personal data we hold about you and to obtain a copy of that information in a portable format. Most of the information you provided to WingMate (such as your profile data and preferences) can be accessed by logging into your account. If you require a comprehensive export of your data, you may contact us at the email provided in Contact Information below. We will verify your identity (to protect your privacy) and then provide you with the data we have about you, to the extent required by law and our internal policies.
  • Correction and Update: If any of your personal information is inaccurate or outdated, you have the ability to correct it. You can review and update much of your profile and account information directly within the WingMate app (for example, you can edit your bio, change your photos, update your preferences, or modify account settings at any time). For any information not editable through the app, you can reach out to us and request that we update or correct the data. We may ask for documentation or verification for certain changes (for instance, proof of a legal name change) if required. We appreciate your help in keeping your information current and accurate.
  • Deletion (Right to Erasure): As discussed in Data Retention, you can delete your WingMate account at any time if you no longer wish to use our service. This can typically be done within the app (for example, via a Settings or Account menu, selecting the option to delete or close your account). We may require you to complete a verification step (such as entering your password or confirming via email) to ensure the request is authentic. Once you delete your account, we will remove your personal data as described above. If for some reason you are unable to delete your account through the app, you can send us a deletion request by contacting our support email. Please note that after deletion, you will lose access to your account and data, and this action is generally irreversible. If you simply uninstall the app from your device without deleting your account, your account will remain active (though you won’t receive new matches or notifications) – in that case, your profile might still be visible to others until you formally delete or request deletion.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing Communications: If you have subscribed to receive promotional emails or newsletters from WingMate, you can opt out at any time. To stop receiving such emails, you can click the “unsubscribe” link found in the footer of any promotional email we send you, or adjust your communication preferences in the app (if available). You can also request removal from our mailing list by contacting us. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing messages, we will still send you transactional or service-related communications (for example, password resets, account notifications, billing receipts, or safety alerts) when necessary . We will also respect any applicable laws regarding marketing communications – for example, if you are on a national do-not-email list (where applicable) or if you withdraw consent in jurisdictions that require consent for marketing.
  • Push Notifications and Alerts: With your permission, WingMate may send push notifications or in-app alerts to your mobile device (for instance, notifying you of a new match or message). If you prefer not to receive these, you have control at the device level. Mobile device settings allow you to turn off push notifications for specific apps. For example, you can go to the notification settings on your iOS or Android device and disable WingMate notifications, or configure the types of notifications you allow (sound, banners, etc.) . Keep in mind that if you disable notifications, you might miss timely updates (like match alerts). Similarly, if we send SMS/text messages (such as verification codes or two-factor authentication), you can typically opt out by following instructions in the message (e.g., replying “STOP” to unsubscribe) or by contacting support. Standard messaging rates will apply to any SMS we send.
  • Location and Device Permissions: You can control the app’s access to certain device information through your device’s settings. For example, you can revoke permission for WingMate to access your device’s precise location (GPS) by adjusting the location permissions on your phone (you might set it to “Never” or “Only while using the app” depending on your preference). You can also disable access to other device features like your camera (for taking a profile photo) or contacts (if we ever introduced an invite friends feature) through your settings. Adjusting these permissions will not delete any previously collected data, but it will stop further collection of the data associated with that permission. Note that some features may not work properly without certain permissions (e.g., the app will not be able to show nearby matches if location access is off).
  • Do Not Track & Ad Preferences: As noted earlier, our websites do not respond to Do Not Track signals . If WingMate engages in any form of interest-based advertising in the future, we will provide an opt-out mechanism in compliance with industry standards (for example, through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page or analogous tools). Meanwhile, users can generally opt out of targeted advertising through their device settings (on iOS, by enabling Limit Ad Tracking, and on Android, by opting out of Ads Personalization) which will limit the use of your mobile device ID for ad targeting by participating networks. Additionally, major browsers offer options to block third-party cookies or use privacy-focused browser extensions, which can help reduce online tracking. While these measures are more applicable to web browsing than to the WingMate app, we want you to be aware of them as part of your privacy toolkit.
  • California Privacy Rights: (No sale of data) Although WingMate is not subject to GDPR (European law) and is not currently subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) due to its scale, we still strive to honor basic privacy rights. If you are a California resident, under California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code §1798.83) you may request a notice detailing what categories of personal information (if any) we share with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. However, as stated above, WingMate does not share your personal information with third parties for direct marketing without your consent . If you have questions about our practices or require such a notice, you can contact us and we will respond as required by law.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: In the limited circumstances where we rely on your consent to process personal data (for instance, if at some point we ask for consent to use your data in a new way), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, we will cease the processing for which consent was provided (once we have been informed of the withdrawal). For example, if you had consented to share your testimony for marketing, and then changed your mind, you can inform us and we will stop using your information for that purpose.
  • Accountability and Complaints: If you have any concerns or complaints about how we handle your personal data, we encourage you to contact us directly first so we can address the issue. We will investigate and attempt to resolve any complaints or disputes regarding the use or disclosure of your personal information. If you feel that we have not adequately addressed your concerns, and depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority or other regulatory body. (For example, certain states in the U.S. provide that consumers can contact the state Attorney General’s office regarding privacy issues.)

When you contact WingMate to exercise any of the above rights, we may need to verify your identity to ensure we’re dealing with the correct person. This is for your protection – for example, we wouldn’t want to disclose your data to someone impersonating you. Verification might involve confirming control of your account email or phone or asking for certain information that only the account owner would know.

Please also understand that these rights are subject to certain limitations. There may be situations where we cannot fully comply with your request – such as if fulfilling it would conflict with legal obligations or with the privacy of others, or if the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. We will always explain the reason if we decline to fulfill a request. For instance, if you request deletion of information which we are required by law to keep (say, for financial record-keeping) or which is necessary to maintain our service’s integrity, we may not immediately delete such data but will inform you of our retention and the reasoning.

Security Measures

We take the security of your personal information very seriously. WingMate implements technical, administrative, and physical security measures designed to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.

  • Encryption: All communications between the WingMate app or website and our servers are encrypted using HTTPS (TLS encryption) to protect data in transit from eavesdropping . In other words, when you enter information into the app (like your login credentials or personal details), that data is encrypted while it travels over the internet. Additionally, we utilize encryption at rest for sensitive data stored in our databases whenever feasible. For example, passwords are stored in hashed form (using one-way hashing algorithms) and certain sensitive fields may be encrypted on our database so that they are not accessible even to our administrators without proper authorization.
  • Secure Infrastructure: WingMate’s backend is built on reputable cloud services (such as Google Firebase) that employ robust security protocols . These data centers implement measures like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and 24/7 monitoring to safeguard the servers and infrastructure that host our data. We leverage these enterprise-grade security features to add layers of protection around user data. Our databases are access-controlled, meaning only authorized personnel and services can query them, and credentials/keys required for server access are kept secure.
  • Access Controls: Internally, we limit access to personal information strictly to employees, contractors, and agents who need that access in order to operate, develop, or improve the service. For example, our customer support team may access your profile information when assisting with an issue, but they will not have access to more sensitive data that isn’t necessary for support. All personnel with access to personal data are trained on confidentiality and security practices, and are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Payment Security: We do not process or store your sensitive payment card details on our own servers. Instead, we rely on PCI-compliant third-party payment processors (like Stripe, Apple, Google) to handle transactions securely. These providers are industry-certified and employ encryption and tokenization to protect your payment data. When you enter payment information in WingMate, it is transmitted directly to the payment provider over encrypted connections; we receive a confirmation token but not the raw card number or bank account details.
  • Monitoring and Testing: We regularly monitor WingMate’s systems for potential vulnerabilities and attacks. This includes keeping our software and libraries up to date to patch security issues, employing anti-malware protections, and possibly using third-party security tools or services to scan for common vulnerabilities. Where appropriate, we may run penetration tests or code audits (sometimes via external security experts) to identify and fix potential weaknesses. We also have systems in place to alert us to unusual account activities that could indicate a security issue (for example, multiple failed login attempts or logins from new locations might trigger additional verification).
  • No Guarantee: Please note that while we strive to protect your information, no system can be 100% secure . The internet by its nature is not completely risk-free, and we cannot warrant or guarantee the absolute security of data, especially data transmitted over networks that we do not control. You can help play a part in safeguarding your data by using unique, strong passwords, keeping your login credentials confidential, and always logging out of your account when using a shared device. WingMate will never ask you for your password via email or text; if you receive communication asking for credentials, treat it as suspicious.
  • Account Security Features: We encourage you to take advantage of any security features we offer, such as two-factor authentication (if enabled, WingMate would require a second form of verification, like a code sent to your phone, when logging in from a new device). We also encourage users to be careful with the information they share within the app – for example, do not provide sensitive personal or financial information to other users. We work to keep the platform secure, but user vigilance is an important component of security as well.
  • Data Breach Response: In the unfortunate event of a data breach or security incident that compromises your personal information, WingMate has procedures in place to promptly investigate and mitigate the issue. We will notify affected users and the appropriate authorities as required by law . Our notification would outline the nature of the breach and any steps users should take to protect themselves (for example, changing passwords if credentials were involved). We are committed to being transparent about any incidents that affect user data and to learning from them to strengthen our defenses.

Remember that you also play a crucial role in maintaining security. Protect your WingMate account by using a strong password that is not reused on other services. Do not share your password with others. Be cautious when using your account on public or shared devices (ensure you log out and that the device doesn’t save your credentials). If you suspect someone has gained unauthorized access to your account, please notify us immediately so we can help secure it . We may suspend account access if we detect unusual activity as a precaution to prevent harm.

Children’s Privacy

WingMate is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use our application and services, and we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18 . Our Terms of Use explicitly prohibit individuals under 18 from creating an account or using the service. If you are under 18, please do not attempt to register for WingMate or send any personal information about yourself to us.

In the event that we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your minor child has created a WingMate account or provided us with personal information, please alert us at our contact email so that we can take appropriate action. We may ask for proof of guardianship in such cases for verification.

Please note that we do not intentionally target any content to minors, and any profiles found to be misrepresenting their age to appear 18 or older will be removed once discovered. We may use age verification mechanisms and monitor for underage use (such as flagging profiles that indicate high school attendance or using other heuristic signals) and will terminate any account suspected to be used by a minor. We take this policy seriously for the safety of young individuals and the integrity of our adult community.

WingMate also does not knowingly allow users under 18 to appear in any user-generated content such as photos. Users who post photos of themselves must ensure they are of legal age in those images. Any photo that appears to depict a minor (even if the account owner is 18+ but the photo contains someone else under 18) is subject to removal for violation of our content guidelines.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. If we make material changes to the way we handle your personal information, we will provide you with clear notice. We will do this, for example, by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy to the date when the changes take effect, and by providing additional notice such as an email notification or an in-app alert about the update . We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any updates.

In some cases, especially if required by law, we may seek your explicit consent to significant changes. For instance, if we were to change our data sharing practices in a way that requires consent, we would either obtain your consent or give you the opportunity to opt out before the change is implemented.

Your continued use of WingMate after a revised Privacy Policy has become effective indicates that you have read, understood, and agreed to the current version of the Policy. If you do not agree with any updates or modifications, you should stop using the service and may delete your account. We will provide a reasonable advance notice if any changes could materially affect you, to allow you to review the changes and decide if you want to continue using WingMate under the updated Policy.

For minor updates that do not materially alter your privacy rights (for example, clarification of wording or additional examples), we may simply post the new Privacy Policy on our website or in the app with a new effective date and without a direct notification, as these do not significantly impact how we handle your data.
